Dr. Douglas Sawyer

Dr. Sawyer is a board certified Family physician. He was raised in North Manchester, IN and attended Indiana University achieving a B.A. in Zoology in 1972. He then attended IU Medical School, graduating with honors in 1975. He finished the Ft. Wayne Family Practice Residency in 1978 and moved to Warsaw where he and his wife Peggy have raised their three children, Mandy, Aaron, and Andrew. The Sawyers attend the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw.

Dr. Sawyer has served on the Cardinal Center board and the YMCA board. He is a past president of the KCH medical staff and served for eight years on the KCH hospital board. He enjoys teaching family practice residents in Ft. Wayne. Hobbies include piano, golf, racquetball, and reffing soccer games. Dr. and Mrs. Sawyer formed the Warsaw Travel Soccer Club.

Though he is no longer doing "OB", he has assisted over 1200 women in childbirth. He is busy helping them and their families deal with the physical and emotional stresses that life has to offer. He is especially interested in developmental, educational, and emotional issues in children and adolescents, geriatrics, preventative cardiology, and diabetes. He is the medical director of Grace Village and The Meadows nursing homes. When asked what he likes most about the practice of medicine, he says it is his patients and trying to help them turn stumbling blocks into stepping stones.
